Once spring comes, and the snow finally melts away, many of us are left with a bare and damaged lawn. Most of us tend to run out and install sod to fix the issue before the sunny days of summer come along.
If we are able, and patient enough to wait a few months, there is a significant benefit to installing sod in fall. September offers cooler nights and a decreased chance of drought, while still allowing a significant amount of time for the sod to take root and establish itself before winter hits.
Next time you’re thinking of installing sod, consider waiting until September. You’ll not only save on water, you’ll give the sod a better chance of survival.
