feature garden #1

This gorgeous property backs onto a popular golf course with northwest exposure. One of the biggest design challenges when designing for this property was creating a personal space in a vast area of turf - as the large lawn flows into the turf of the golf course. Another significant challenge in designing the back yard was the exposure to the elements as there were no mature trees present.

Taking advantage of the change in grade, we installed a water feature that wraps around the rear of the house beginning and culminating in ponds. A stone walkway winds its way along beside the stream and leads the visitor to the lower patio and also the gazebo and hot tub areas. It is a pleasure to work with a client who is so knowledgeable and interested in landscaping and plants. This project continues to evolve.
Four years ago when Karen & I moved to Orillia from Toronto, we were faced with the task of landscaping a fairly large property pretty much from scratch. As neither of us had any experience with a job of this magnitude, we decided to have a plan drawn up by a professional. On a recommendation from our next-door neighbour, we called in Michael Scott. Since that time we have been working with Michael on the implementation of that plan.

Besides the high quality of the work, what we appreciate about Michael and his team is their ability to listen to what we want, and offer advice without trying to impose their own ideas carte blanche. Michael has also been extremely flexible in defining what portion of any project he will do. He has been willing to quote on whatever we don't want to do ourselves, no mater how large or small the job.

We still have a long way to go to complete the plan (does the job of landscaping ever really end?), and we look forward to continuing our working relationship with Michael and his team.
